Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

Generally speaking, the information provided by and to the client during therapy sessions is legally confidential and cannot be released without the client’s consent. There are exceptions to this confidentiality, some of which are listed in section 12-43-218 of the Colorado Revised Statutes and in the Notice of Privacy Rights you will be provided. For example, confidentiality may not apply in situations where a) there is a risk of bodily harm to you or  to other persons, b) there is evidence of or reasons to suspect child abuse or elder abuse, or c) a court determines that confidentiality is to be waived in the service of legal considerations.  If a legal exception arises during therapy, if feasible, you will be informed accordingly.
